Sharing the Great News of a Great God with the People of the Great Basin

Missionaries

Who would leave the comfort of home and family to travel to far away lands to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who do not yet know Him?

Missionaries.

A missionary is someone who tells others about Jesus.  In that sense, we are all missionaries, wherever we live.  For a stay-at-home mom, her mission field are those little children gathered right in her home.  For a miner, it can be the person next to him or her in the pit.  Same for a casino worker.  For a secretary, everyone who comes in the office.  For a teacher, each student and fellow teacher.  We are all called to share the reality of our salvation with those around us.

There are some, however, who do leave hearth and home, family and friends, to travel to far away places, to minister to people of different cultures and different backgrounds.

We have some of those people who call our church, their home church.

This page is to keep you informed about their activities, and to let you know how you might support them.

Please, always, keep them in your prayers.

Jackie Ross

Greetings from Switzerland!  (Received at church 4/9/08 - some editing done)

My first couple of weeks here has been filled with transition and the flu/cold. I went straight from jet lag to being sick for two weeks. Praise God I am feeling well today!

I am a little slow at getting my contact information out to everyone, but I have accomplished that today. You will find it at Elko First Baptist Church. So if you're in the neighborhood now, you can just drop by.

The church has my home phone and my skype ID and phone number. If you don't have skype on your computer, it is great; you can actually talk to one another on the computer for free. For me, it is always wonderful hearing from you. If you decide to call, just remember I'm 9 hours ahead (West coast time). I would love to talk to you!!

My email address is also available from the church.

I am look forward to hearing from you.

Love and blessings,

Jackie

Doug and Sue Mary

Doug and Sue lived in Elko for many years, and were active members of Elko First Baptist Church.  In 1993, they followed a call to minister with Campus Crusade's Family Life ministry, and now live in Arkansas.  They work with Family Life's program, A Weekend to Remember - a weekend away from home for couples to re-establish their relationship with each other and with God.

We hope to post a copy of their newsletter online soon.
