Missionaries

Who would leave the comfort of home and family to travel to far away lands to share the good news of Jesus Christ ~

with those who do not yet know Him?

Missionaries.

A missionary is someone who tells others about Jesus.  In that sense, we are all missionaries, wherever we live.  For a stay-at-home mom, her mission field are those little children gathered right in her home.  For a miner, it can be the person next to him or her in the pit.  Same for a casino worker.  For a secretary, everyone who comes in the office.  For a teacher, each student and fellow teacher.  We are all called to share the reality of our salvation with those around us.

There are some, however, who do leave hearth and home, family and friends, to travel to far away places, to minister to people of different cultures and different backgrounds.

We have some of those people who call our church, their home church.  Every second Sunday, our silver plate offering is received for the work of Jackie Ross and Wendy Bernhard.  Below are their ongoing stories, with information on how you can be involved in their ministries.

Also, we encourage people to stay informed about those ministries that share the good news about Jesus with people here in the United States.  Doug and Sue Mary work with Family Life, based in Arkansas.  Information about the Marys is also below.

This page is to keep you informed about their activities, and to let you know how you might support them.

Please, always, keep them in your prayers.

Doug and Sue Mary

Doug and Sue lived in Elko for many years, and were active members of Elko First Baptist Church.  In 1993, they followed a call to minister with Campus Crusade's Family Life ministry, and now live in Arkansas.  They work with Family Life's program, A Weekend to Remember - a weekend away from home for couples to re-establish their relationship with each other and with God.

We hope to post a copy of their newsletter online soon.  Please keep Doug and Sue in your prayers.
