2009 Thanksgiving Community Feast
Since 1992,
We also offered some clothes, blankets and LOTS of coats – some second hand but clean, some brand new – socks and toiletries to those who need them. We provided a warm, welcoming place for people to spend the afternoon. A group from Calvary Baptist put on a puppet show that was really enjoyed by all ages, and the worship team from our church provided background praise music during part of the afternoon.
For the third year, our local Albertson's grocery store received donations toward complete turkey meals, which formed the basis of our dinners. Many other churches, groups, and individuals also contributed food and money for the dinner.
A BIG thank-you to all of the folks who helped us out from the community and to those who came and gave some of their time to prepare, serve, and deliver the meals. At least 10 churches were represented, as well as "C" Shift from the City Fire Department, and other folks just interested in helping out.
It was a wonderful blessing to our community!
