2010 Thanksgiving Community Feast

What a great time of year!

The weather is cooling down, there is talk of snow (no, wait - there IS snow) – okay maybe not a GREAT time of year!

But look at what is ahead of us; celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus and all that means to us.  Celebrating Thanksgiving, a time we set aside to count our blessing – if you CAN count them - and to give thanks to God for all we have.

Our annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner event started in 1991, when a family at church had fallen on hard times and it looked like they would not have much of a Thanksgiving.  Several members of the church got together and provided.  They had such a great time they decided to do it again the following year, but as time went on they realized there are people in our community who did not have a very happy day on the fourth Thursday of November.  So, they began to extend the blessing out from the walls of the church.  Since then we have managed to feed literally thousands of people down the years.  Last year we served 431 meals; 300 of them were delivered to anyone who asked, the rest were served at the Senior Center here in town.

How can a church of 75 possibly serve that many?!  First of all, we give credit to God.   He does this through ordinary people who understand that they have been greatly blessed and are willing to share with those who have not been so blessed.  This year we again were blessed to be able to provide meals to folks at home and many who came to the center.  We couldn't have done it without the help of many businesses, organizations, and individuals.

Thank you for partnering with us!

We pray God’s richest blessing for you this year and in the future,

Bill
